ABOUT US


Folio Consulting provides wide ranging advice and services to heritage and other organisations, specialising in archives and records management, improving access to heritage collections and fundraising for heritage projects. We work hard to understand the needs of our clients, resulting in targeted planning and the delivery of high quality projects and services.


Folio Consulting was established in 2014 by Beth Astridge, an Archivist and heritage professional with experience across archives, libraries and museums. Ellen Parton joined Folio Consulting in 2016, and Beth and Ellen work both together and seperately on archive and heritage projects delivering them to the highest possible standards. 

Beth Astridge


Archivist, heritage and funding consultant with experience across archives, libraries and museums. Beth has skills and experience in managing archive collections, strategic development of heritage services, widening access to heritage and cultural collections, records and information management and fundraising in the heritage sector. 


Beth has over 18 years of experience working in the archives and heritage sectors. She has worked on  collections at The University of Kent, The Royal College of Surgeons, The Institution of Civil Engineers, The Council for World Mission, and the Marks & Spencer's corporate archive. She has also developed and managed grants programmes for the archives sector at The National Archives. 


Beth's skills and experience include: 


  • Managing several archive services including supervising access to archive material, cataloguing projects, audience development work and outreach and promotion of collections.
  • Writing funding and award applications
  • Project management work with collections across multiple domains - museums, libaries and archives
  • Undertaking significance assessments and collections reviews 
  • Providing advice in records and information management, undertaking collections surveys, and advising about the management and long term preservation of records and archives
  • Grants management - including designing and managing funding programmes and supporting applicants through the application process 


Beth's interests include: 


  • The history of disability and making heritage and cultural collections more accessible for deaf and disabled people
  • Improving the representation of marginalised communities in archive collections and ensuring the lived experience of people who are traditionally under-represented in archive collections is captured by archives
  • The history of philanthropy, grant giving and charitable giving in the UK 


Ellen Parton


An Archivist with over 18 years’ experience in a variety of institutions and settings, including Imperial War Museums, Lambeth Palace, BT Archives, The Guardian News & Media Archive and The National Trust. Ellen’s particular areas of expertise and interest include, but are not limited to, archive cataloguing and arrangement, selecting archival material for exhibitions, volunteer programmes and archives management including acquisitions. Ellen became a Registered Member of the Archives and Records Association in 2008
